iPhone 15 Pro Max Dominates Global Smartphone Market, Surpassing Galaxy S24 Ultra

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is currently the best-selling smartphone in the world, by a significant margin, ahead of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Counterpoint Research has released a new report on the global smartphone market. According to the report, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is not only the most popular iPhone model; it is also the best-selling phone in the world in the first quarter of 2024.

The top four best-selling phones in the world are, in order, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 14. The Galaxy S24 Ultra comes in fifth place.

The Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A54 are in sixth and seventh place, respectively, and the iPhone 15 Plus is in eighth place. The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy A34 round out the top 10 best-selling phones in the first quarter of 2024.

In recent years, demand for standard iPhone models has typically been higher than for Pro and Pro Max models in short, non-seasonal periods. However, sales of the more expensive iPhone models have now surpassed those of the standard model for the first time. This is a result of the growing consumer interest in premium smartphones.

Counterpoint says that Pro and Pro Max iPhone models likely accounted for over 60% of Apple’s smartphone revenue. The increase in consumer willingness to buy expensive phones is directly related to the increase in the length of time people keep their phones. In fact, users are keeping their phones for longer.

Counterpoint’s report comes as overall iPhone sales fell 10% in the first quarter of 2024 (Apple’s fiscal second quarter) compared to the previous year.
