WhatsApp Tests Longer Videos for Status Updates

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will let users share longer videos in their status updates. The new feature is similar to Instagram Stories and allows users to share videos up to 60 seconds long.

Currently, WhatsApp limits status videos to 30 seconds, forcing users to chop up longer clips. The new feature will allow users to share longer videos without having to edit them.

The new feature is currently available to a limited number of beta testers on Android. It is expected to be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.

How to Use the New Feature

To use the new feature, users will need to update to the latest version of the WhatsApp beta for Android. Once they have updated the app, they can follow these steps to share a longer video in their status:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to the Status tab.
  2. Tap the camera icon to record a new video or select an existing video from your phone’s gallery.
  3. If the video is longer than 60 seconds, you will be able to trim it before sharing it.
  4. Tap the Share button to share the video with your contacts.

Benefits of the New Feature

The new feature will allow users to share more comprehensive and detailed stories in their status updates. It will also be useful for users who want to share longer clips of their lives, such as a vacation video or a sporting event.

The new feature is a welcome addition to WhatsApp and is sure to be popular with users. It is a sign that WhatsApp is listening to user feedback and is committed to improving the app.
