WhatsApp Introduces Event Management for Groups

WhatsApp is Adding New Features to Become the Most Useful Messenger in the World
WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps globally, is working on several new features to compete with other messaging apps like Telegram. Although it lacks some features compared to its competitors, WhatsApp still boasts over 2 billion active users, making it the most widely used messaging app.

New Features in the Pipeline

According to WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing various features expected to be released in future versions of the app. One of these features is the ability to create events within groups.

Group Event Creation

This feature will allow any group member to create an event for a voice call, video call, or any other purpose. It will also provide the ability to share the event link for group members to join and edit event details such as description, date, and location.

Event Management

Based on information from WABetaInfo, it seems that the group event feature will allow multiple events to be created in each group by all members. These events will be sorted by date after creation and can be viewed by going to the events section.

Member Visibility and Reminders

The list of people who have joined the event and those who have not yet shown interest in joining will be visible to all group members. Additionally, each event can be canceled at any time.

WhatsApp will use the notification and reminder permission on smartphones to send event reminders. It will also likely provide users with the option to add the event time and location to their calendar and map app.

Other New Features

Sending media with different quality options: Users will be able to choose the quality at which images and videos are sent, allowing for faster loading times for lower-quality files.
Enhanced privacy for avatar stickers: Users can choose who can create stickers from their avatar, with options including selected contacts, all contacts, or no one.
Improved status feature: Users can quickly switch between text, video, or photo options when creating a status update.
Quick video recording and editing: iPhone and Android users can long-press the camera icon to quickly record and send a video, or scrub through the video by swiping left or right.

By adding these new features, WhatsApp aims to enhance its user experience and maintain its position as the most popular messaging app in the world.
