Surface Pro 10: Microsoft’s New Venture into AI PC Market

Microsoft has officially entered the “AI PC” market with the introduction of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 business models. The Surface Pro 10 business model is equipped with the first generation of Intel Core Ultra series processors, a Copilot key on the keyboard, and a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to emphasize the importance of AI in its new products.

According to Microsoft’s official statement, the Surface Pro 10 will be available in two configurations with either a Core Ultra 5 135U or Core Ultra 7 165U processor, along with at least 8GB or up to 64GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of Gen4 SSD storage. The starting price for the laptop is $1,199.

The Surface Pro 10 for Business laptop has two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports and a Surface Connect port for charging. Microsoft says that thanks to Intel’s low-power processor, the new Surface will have a battery life of up to 19 hours.

Microsoft has improved the 13-inch display of the Surface Pro 10 business version with a new anti-reflective coating and 33% more brightness.

Contrary to rumors, the latest Microsoft laptop still uses an LCD display and there is no OLED display. It is possible that we will see the unveiling of a special model for ordinary users with an OLED display and a Snapdragon X Elite chip at Microsoft’s next event on May 20 (31 Ordibehesht).

The front camera of the Surface Pro 10 has been significantly improved over the Surface Pro 9 with a 114-degree field of view and 1440p video recording. According to Microsoft, the webcam in question is the first camera with such a wide field of view in the PC market. Thanks to artificial intelligence, this camera can apply Windows Studio effects such as background blurring and automatic framing during video calls.

Microsoft has equipped the Surface Pro 10 business version with an NFC chip that allows businesses to use devices such as YubiKey NFC security keys for authentication. Microsoft is also working on a 5G version of the Surface Pro 10. This will be the first time that a Surface model with an Intel processor will be equipped with 5G connectivity.

Microsoft has improved the keyboard of the Surface Pro 10 business version with improvements such as larger and bolder fonts, improved backlighting, and a Copilot key.

Microsoft has said that the Surface Pro 10 will be available to business customers on April 9, 2024 (21 Farvardin 1403).
