Motorola Unveils Premium Edge 50 Ultra with Powerful Processor and 144Hz Display

Motorola has unveiled its latest premium smartphone, the Moto Edge 50 Ultra, which boasts a powerful processor, a high-refresh-rate display, and a versatile camera system. The phone is available in various configurations with leather or wooden back panels, paying homage to Motorola’s legacy devices.

The Moto Edge 50 Ultra is essentially an enhanced version of the Moto Edge 50 Pro, which was released a few weeks ago. It is powered by the same processor as one of the best mid-range smartphones on the market, the Redmi Turbo 3, and comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The Moto Edge 50 Ultra features a 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch sensor with 1.2-micron pixels. This camera supports autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS), and has an f/1.6 aperture.

In addition to the main camera, the Moto Edge 50 Ultra boasts a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture and 3x zoom, alongside a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 122-degree field of view. The cameras utilize a laser autofocus system that aids in exposure, white balance, and flicker detection.

The front-facing camera is a 50-megapixel shooter. All three cameras on the Edge 50 Ultra can record 4K video at 60 frames per second. The main and selfie cameras also support 1080p slow-motion mode.

Artificial intelligence automatically adjusts the shutter speed and stabilization level based on the scene and controls autofocus. The new Photo Enhancement engine optimizes images to capture details, shadows, sharpness, color, and bokeh.

The Moto Edge 50 Ultra sports a 6.7-inch curved OLED display with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate (when gaming). The display has a peak brightness of 2,500 nits and offers 10-bit color depth with +HDR10 support.

Both the display and camera on the Edge 50 Ultra have received Pantone certification, meaning they accurately capture and display colors on the phone’s screen.

The phone has an aluminum frame, and the display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus with an anti-fingerprint coating. The Edge 50 Ultra is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance.

A 4,500mAh battery with support for 125W wired charging and 50W wireless charging powers the latest Motorola phone.

Other features of the new Motorola phone include support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Head Tracking, and UWB. The USB-C port supports USB 3.2 and DisplayPort 1.4 standards.

Sales of the Motorola Moto Edge 50 Ultra will begin in some European countries in the coming weeks. The starting price for the phone is €1,000.
