Huawei Unveils Flagship Pura 70 Smartphone Series

Huawei has caught the attention of the Chinese market by unveiling four flagship smartphones – the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro Plus, and Pura 70 Ultra.

Huawei quietly launched these new devices in the Pura 70 family without a formal event. The new Huawei phones excel in photography, feature custom processors, and sport a new design language.

Huawei’s flagship P series has been retired, and the company is now introducing its new Pura flagship lineup. Huawei calls the new design language for these flagships “Vane Design”.

The standout visual element of the Pura 70 series is the triangular island on the rear panel, which has not been seen on any other smartphone before. The base Pura 70 model has a flat edge, while the other variants feature a slightly curved edge.

The Pura 70 specifications include a 6.6-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,500 nits of brightness, powered by the new Kirin 9010 processor.

The Pura 70 has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and a variable aperture (f/1.4 to f/4.0), a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

Huawei claims the Pura 70 has a 4,900mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. It is IP68 rated, 7.95mm thick, and weighs 207g. It uses Huawei’s second-generation Kunlun glass protection.

The Pura 70 Pro and Pura 70 Pro Plus both feature 6.8-inch 120Hz OLED displays with 2,500 nits of brightness and the same Kirin 9010 processor. The camera setups are also similar, with a 50MP primary, 12.5MP ultrawide, and 48MP periscope telephoto cameras.

The Pura 70 Pro has a 5,050mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, while the Pura 70 Pro Plus has the same battery and charging specifications. Both have IP68 ratings, use the new Xuanwu Tempered Kunlun Glass, and run HarmonyOS 4.2.

The top-of-the-line Pura 70 Ultra shares many similarities with the Pro and Pro Plus models, but it has a 50MP primary camera with a 1-inch IMX989 sensor and optical image stabilization. It also has a 5,200mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

The Pura 70 series is Huawei’s latest flagship lineup, positioned to compete directly with the Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max in the Chinese market.
