Huawei P70 Ultra: A Flagship with a Retractable Camera

Huawei has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone series, the P70. The top model in the lineup is the P70 Ultra, which boasts a unique feature that sets it apart from all other flagships on the market: a retractable camera.

Huawei claims that the P70 Ultra’s retractable camera mechanism can withstand up to 300,000 cycles of opening and closing without any issues. This isn’t the first modern smartphone with a retractable camera, but it is a notable addition to the market.

All of the P70 series phones are capable of capturing high-speed motion with their cameras. Huawei claims that the P70 Ultra can capture images of a car moving at 300 kilometers per hour without any blur.

On the back of the P70 Ultra, you’ll find a 50-megapixel main camera with a 1-inch IMX989 sensor and a lens with optical image stabilization and variable aperture, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom.

Huawei’s latest phone is powered by the Kirin 9010 processor, sports a 6.8-inch 120Hz OLED display with 2,500 nits of brightness, packs a 5,200mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging, is IP68 rated, and runs on HarmonyOS 4.2. Pricing for the phone starts at 9,999 yuan (approximately $1,380).
