Google Pixel’s Lookup Feature: Identify Unknown Numbers with a Quick Search

Google Pixel phones are getting a new feature called Lookup that will allow users to search for unknown numbers in various apps and identify callers.

The feature was first spotted by AssembleDebug and is currently available in Japan for Pixel users on the March update. It will be rolled out to other countries soon.

Lookup works differently from Truecaller. When a user receives a call from an unknown number, they can tap on the number in the recent calls section and see the Lookup option.

Selecting Lookup will bring up a list of apps installed on the phone that have web search capabilities. Google Search is also one of the apps that will appear in this list. Selecting it will show the search results for the unknown number.

Google says that Lookup is designed to help users identify business numbers that are registered online. It won’t be able to identify personal numbers that don’t have an online presence.
