Galaxy S24 Outperforms iPhone 15 in Global 5G Speed Tests

Internet speed tests conducted across the globe reveal that the Samsung Galaxy S24 boasts the fastest 5G connection.

An analysis of 5G download and upload speeds for Samsung’s Galaxy S24 family demonstrates superior performance compared to previous generations and the iPhone 15 series.

Powered by the Exynos 2400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors (depending on the model and region), the S24 series features faster 5G modems in contrast to its predecessors, enabling higher download and upload speeds and lower latency. In most countries worldwide, the Galaxy S24 series outperforms the iPhone 15 in terms of average 5G download and upload speeds.

Ookla, the company behind the renowned Speedtest website, has evaluated the world’s fastest 5G smartphones. By comparing all speed test results on the Speedtest platform, Ookla discovered that Samsung’s top model outperformed the iPhone 15 in 15 countries and regions.

In France, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Qatar, Spain, Thailand, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States, the Galaxy S24 exhibited faster average download and upload speeds than the iPhone 15. The iPhone 15 recorded higher 5G speeds in Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea.

The Galaxy S24 also surpassed the iPhone 15 family, including the iPhone 15 Pro Max, in latency tests. These tests were conducted from February 1 to March 24, 2024.

Ookla cautions that device performance metrics vary across countries due to factors such as government and mobile operator investments in 5G infrastructure, frequency band allocation, and 5G network coverage.

The average download speed for the Galaxy S24 series ranged from 55 Mbps to 971 Mbps, depending on the model and region. Qatar topped the charts with 5G download and upload speeds of 971.49 Mbps and 66.52 Mbps, respectively, while Indonesia had the lowest recorded download speed of 55.61 Mbps.
