Apple Officially Announces iOS 18 and AI Event

Apple has confirmed in a press release that the WWDC 2024 will take place on June 10. As usual, the annual conference will focus on software updates for iPhones, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and other Apple products.

AI will undoubtedly be a major focus at the event. While there are many rumors, we still don’t have a complete picture of Apple’s plans.

Reports suggest that Apple is spending millions of dollars per day on its large language models and has reportedly been in talks with news organizations to train its AI on their articles.

Apple is also reportedly looking to partner with Google, OpenAI, and Baidu to use their AI in its devices. Some of Apple’s AI will be processed locally using the company’s own language model, while features that rely on servers will likely be provided by Google or OpenAI (and Baidu in China).

In addition to AI, we expect Apple to showcase new versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and other operating systems at WWDC. Rumors suggest that iOS 18 will feature a new home screen and refinements to some of the default apps.

We may also see two new AirPods models at WWDC, one without noise cancellation and one with. There’s also a chance that we’ll see the next generation of AirPods Max.
