AMD Introduces New Ryzen Pro Processors with AI Focus

AMD has unveiled its latest professional processors targeting both laptop and desktop users. The Ryzen Pro 8040 series for laptops and the Ryzen Pro 8000 series for desktops have a special focus on artificial intelligence.

AMD promises that the new processors’ Neural Processing Unit (NPU) will deliver 16 TOPS of AI processing performance.

What sets the new models apart from the non-Pro versions is their special security and management features that make them more suitable for business scenarios such as deploying and managing multiple devices.

The Ryzen Pro 8040 series laptop processors are based on the Zen 4 architecture with 4nm lithography and offer up to 30% better CPU performance than Intel’s Core Ultra 7 165U processor. The Ryzen Pro 8040 is also one of the first AMD processor models to support Wi-Fi 7.

Various Lenovo and HP laptop models will be available with Ryzen Pro 8040 series processors in the coming months.

The Ryzen Pro 8000 series desktop processors are based on the Zen 4 architecture and 4nm lithography and are equipped with integrated graphics that promise up to 47% better performance than Intel’s Core i7-14700 processor.

The Ryzen Pro 8000 series will be available for purchase from the second quarter of 2024. Team Red has not yet announced the prices of the new processors.
